I just want to give everyone an update. If you go out to McDade you will see some changes coming. There is a parking lot being installed in the fairway of #17. I tried to convince them otherwise, but it seems Soccer has won again.

The good news is, I was given permission to design some new holes in the woods near #1. The 2 new holes will replace old #17 and #18. New #18 will be a reversed version of current #16 most likely.

For the next few days you can probably play the course in the current configuration, but the plan is going into effect very soon.

I have attached a map that shows the current plan.

Looks like current 16 backwards as 18? That'll be interesting. I always thought the last 2-3 were kinda weak anyway. How close will the parking lot be to the new #18 fairway?

Also, any plans on distances of the new #2 and #3?

Current #16 is a good hole, but the flow would be better with it reversed if it becomes #18. If i cant find a good way to reverse it, then its going to stay the same. From looking at the plan they gave me, the parking lot covers an entire section of current #17 fairway, just have to wait and see though.

New #2 and #3 will be as long as i can possibly make them, over 400ft hopefully.

Hi Leafylinks,

Thanks for the update. Sounds like it will affect Birdshot's tournament "The Majestic McDade" on April 25th. Conroe Parks really thinks their pavillions are special. $63 for every 4 hours reserved. I don't think they are that great. We will figure out a place to set up at. Maybe the little old pavillion or the benches area to the east of the little pavillion. Any other ideas for a place to set up?

My advice is to set up near hole #1, plenty of space there.

I will keep pushing them to get this done. It would already be done, but they insist on their own crew doing all the clearing, all i can do is mark which trees come down and flag the teepad & basket placements.

Is this course currently playable? I haven't been there, but was hoping to take a trip this afternoon.

Yes it should be playable today, they have only begun marking the perimeter of the new parking lot as of yesterday. Worst case scenario, youd have to skip #17 but maybe no ones even working and you wont even notice.
