Don't know if this has been suggested. What about having a downloadable document for each tournament ( a flier ) that can be printed out and posted on our various course boards? I went ahead and made my own flier and posted it on the Northside course board because I know a lot of folks there don't visit these websites. Plus, I was just playing a round at Terramont and asked a group of guys if they were playing in the tournament Saturday and they had no idea what I was talking about. I told them be there at 08:00 for a 09:00 kickoff and join the fun.

Our 2011 sanctioned tourney schedule is already up on the Birdshot website...that page can be printed & posted. As far as the minis go, once we get those together it will be the same deal...also once springtime kicks in & ERic's SW minis & DGC's Northside minis get started (along with whatever minis & leagues HFDS is running) we have all agreed to help post each other's schedules in whatever part of town we all live in. That will hopefully saturate the entire area with info on what everyone is doing!

Suggestion: hold the Imperial Park Mini in the Winter or very early Spring when the leaves are down and wayward discs are much easier to find. Also, check with Sugar Land P&R to try and avoid a date with a softball tourney.

Birdshot will not be having a mini at Imperial Park next year.
There are so many 9 basket courses and so many events being held at 9 basket courses next year that we are calling our mini series "Birdshot Leftover Mini Championship Series (BLMCS). We won't have minis at the courses that are covered by Southwest Handicap Mini Series, HFDS Central mini, and the new Northside mini series. We would like to ask that the people running those events to keep us informed of any maintenance issues at those courses as we would like to help in that endeavor. The list of courses that we might possibly have our minis at next year: Crosspoint Community Church: if construction is finished Bridgepoint Bible Church Clute Cedar Brook Elementary - (mostly for Lanier Middle School, but for me too because I want an ace) Burke-Crenshaw Gwen Hruska of River Plantation Memorial Baptist Miramar Northside Christian Church (unless Bryan starts doing minis there) Nottingham Park Pecan Grove Rice University Stonebridge Church Terramont Timber Lane Park No dates except Timber Lane Park on Jan. 29th. |

Isn't Miramar already covered by a League? |

Saner heads prevailed. The course still isn't safe for play when the foot traffic is busy.
Yes, but it's a Birdshot league. |

Hey Chuck... I know you've mentioned the idea before, but have you gotten any further into formalizing the Birdshot stance on PDGA Competition Manual Rule 3.3.B(13): "Player Misconduct via Deliberately seeking to manipulate ones player rating through intentional misplay or withdrawal." ?

My rating went up a point!
Birdshot TDs are to notify the PDGA tour manager if they know that a player is just leaving the tournament due to bad play and don't want to have the round affect their rating. We will be talking to players on their card and the player themselves before making that judgement call. I've actually had players tell me that they quit because of a bad round in process. Watch what you tell a TD. I have noticed an increase in that strategy in 2010. The PDGA does not have an official penalty yet for that unsportsman like conduct. I'm sure they will come up with something fair. |
