No fair is making everyone pay the same amount for the TDs gas!!!!!!!!!!! Why should we pay more just because we have to pay a higher entry? I'm sure you would love paying $30 more per event just to have a good chunk taken out.

$2 all around should give them $144 per event which should cover gas and Entries for Chuck and Billy.

I think all divisions should be payed out 100% but they seem to go by the bare minimum. Also it is a little harder to cash in Open to get that "real money".

I remember making more in my last 2 years in Adv by selling plastic than I made in my 1st 2 years of Pro.

If it were up to me Ma4 would get a 100% payout (everyone would get the same payout as well) and the top 3 would get a trophy. That reduces the chances that players who's skills are advancing would stay in a division as long as possible so they could be near the top raking in the plastic.

Because you [MPO] make more than we [AMs] do. It's the American way.

Speaking of which... when you declare your MPO winnings on your Federal Income Tax return are you allowed to deduct tournament travel expenses and entry fees?

MPO does not make more than AMs! Unless you are a 1000+ rated player you will bank more in Am period! Also MPO doesn't make much at these events that's for sure.

Just grabbing two random Birdshot events....

PIC7 Feb 2009
MPO (field of 5) winner was paid $135 on $50 entry = 2.7x
MG1 (field of 7) winner was paid $61 on $25 entry = 2.4x
MA4 (field of 4) winner was paid $16 on $10 entry = 1.6x

Moffitt Jun 2008
MPO (field of 4) winner was paid $100 on $45 entry = 2.2x
MM1 (field of 4) winner was paid $43 on $25 entry = 1.7x
MA4 (field of 5) winner was paid $14 on $10 entry = 1.4x

How about grabbing the one with 7 MPO players where 1st didn't double their entry? Also with a $10 entry how do you expect a big payout when everything is going to fees? At least now I know the question to the Dixon answer......................

Dixon payed $45 last year for gas while the Ma4 player who played the same events payed $9. Yeah that is really fair and probably the reason the MPO field is so small at these events. We vote on good events with our feet.

Dude... that's exactly the point people are trying to make to you.

If you use a flat rate fee it takes an even bigger chunk out of the lower divisions' payout pool.

That must be that "new math" I keep hearing talk about. But the numbers are generally close enough to make your point.

I don't know why you're so hung up on "gas"... it's a PDGA approved management fee that they can do whatever they want with. If they want to take that $100 bill and set it on fire in front of you that's their right.

And with all the B&W you've done on the topic I don't think that even if they did take $2.50 less from your entry fee that it would change the likelihood of Matt Hall showing up at future Birdshot events.

Your right it wouldn't change my mind. Class warfare sucks and I still have not received an answer to why we pay 5 times as much for their gas when winning a BS event will hardly pay for my gas???????

With a $10 entry there should be a disclaimer that pretty much all of it goes to fees and I seriously don't see how they can pay them $8.50 back when they have to pay PDGA fees and such which are a fixed rate of $3 per player.

How about the why do we pay more part? Also how can they be payed 85% when they would already have 30% taken out by the PDGA? I'm sure the difference is covered by the upper divisions............

a couple quick points:

1) scooter, didn't you say you were done with the thread?

2) one of the big things i keep reading on here is that blah blah blah, no pros would ever want to play in these horrible tourneys blah blah blah. here is what i have noticed about pros participation in tourneys...it is dependant more than anything on how many other pros show up. so therefore think about it...how many pros will be showing up to birdshot tourneys when houstons own top rated pro is constantly bashing them. if you want to know why these tournaments have such small pro fields, all you have to do is look in the mirror. i guarantee you if you spent half as much time telling other players, "you guys should come out for this tourney" as you did saying "BS is a joke", i'll bet you anything that the average pro field would be doubled at least.
