I played the course today, and there is a volleyball court that has been installed very close to #12's fairway. People were playing volleyball, and I wa unable to safely play hole #12, and stopped after #11. Has anyone made inquiry with the County about the volleyball court and whether it was authorized by the County?

I haven't seen the poles there persist when someone isn't playing, so I think there's just a crowd of people that like to play volleyball there - I was just there 2/1/2009 and saw the spot trampled into the ground, but no poles. The proximity of #12 (and the drive off of #1) to the parking lot / playground, plus that being the only shaded area, seem to make it a favorite for non-disc activities.
It seems like #12 being playable is a rarity now, and #3 gets some random activity too, but not as bad as #12. We had to skip #3 yesterday, but were able to play #12 without a problem. I'm still surprised by the number of people that frequent the park, and have no idea what disc golf is and what the strange yellow things are. I still remember watching a woman put her infant *in* one as though it was some kind of... I don't know, swing? How does that even look safe, regardless if you know what it is or not? I wonder if a course layout board would do something to help people understand that there is active fairway involved and, courtesy aside, a child running across one at the wrong time could result in some serious injury... |

At least they haven't made a BBQ pit out of a basket yet!

I played this course yesterday and had no real problems playing the whole thing. I didnt see a volleyball net or anything that would get in the way on 12. I was approached by a man who asked me for some money and I had to skip whole 3 because a gentleman was practicing his chipping with golf balls.
It is funny that people dont know what the baskets are or what you are doing. They just see a great shot and say wow! I was able to explain what Disc Golf was to 4 people. That was fun. I even let a couple throw my discs around. I did make sure I cleaned them off afterwards, (cooties). |

On the 9th hole I almost hit some kids that weren't paying attention. They were walking very slowly and I threw it, the wind picked it up and they got lucky it landed right behind them. But I've never had a volley ball game in the way.

Played twice since the original post and haven't seen a volleyball court either time.
