Talking Surprisingly busy

After our rounds at Bear Branch, our group swelled from 8 to 12 as we met up with some buddies at Terramont. I must say that we were pleasantly shocked at how busy the course was. It's cool to see so many newer players out there. We even gave some "lessons" to some of the new guys who were following our group. It is a shame that The Woodlands doesn't understand the amount of players and potential players that are in their backyard. Once again, thanks to the south side crew that followed us out there after Bear Branch.

Terramont seems to be underated by many, maybe because it's only 9 holes, I don't know..I think it's a great course with elevation being in play on 6 of the 9 holes (a rarity for houston area courses). 36 holes at this course and you are exhausted

If you've never made the trek north to this park, put it on your list, it's worth the trip

I like to play hole one to hole nine myself! Plenty of options if the course is not crowded.

I wish some of the locals would go talk to the Woodlands Parks and Rec. people about installing 9 more holes out there. The design has been comtemplated before I assure you. But it will take residents to make the plea, not former employees.

Does anybody know what the original design plan was for the other 9? I'd think it might be appropriate to give that other design a look. I think that an attempt to approach The Woodlands Parks and Rec. in general may be a good idea. The previous attempts were adversarial due to issues that were going on out at Bear Branch at the time. I'm sure that with some of the local ambassadors around here now, a better comprimise than 33% of the procedes can be reached.
I'd really like to see the Bear Branch Tournament reborn. The origanl 22 hole configuration for that event was cool. If anyone is willing to TD the event, I'd be willing to help fundraise for it. Admittedly, I'm nowhere near qualified to be a TD, but I'll help with any other aspects of such an event. BUT I DIGRESS...... yes, Terremont, another 9? Absolutely, but only if it can be quality. I do love that course though. Especially on windy days.

I was hired to design the original 9 and 9 only... But if you notice which I did when I was out there for the first time, there is enough property for another 9. The catch? It would be on drainage district property and not the parks and rec. property.

So, find out the name and appropreiate people to speak to at the drainage district. But contact the parks dept. first. The second 9 was not designed but I am sure enough room exists to accommodate.

Hi Matt,

It has been awhile since I talked to the Community Associations of the Woodlands. I will give them a call tomorrow about the possibility of a tournament in 09.

This would be considered my home course, though it's debatable if Spring Valley is a half mile closer to my house, but I just wanted say well done Jake, I play this course 2-3 times a week because it challenges your acuracy getting into the wooded holes and the hills are a great added workout
