It is sounding more and more like this is going to happen. I will see the player at the Commando Mini this morning and I'll try to remember to ask him what the latest "word" is on the new course.

I know that isn't very much information, but it's all that I have. I don't know if the park being talked about is HPARD or county precinct managed.
Any more news on this?

Hopefully somebody can elaborate a bit...
I'm hoping to have an update for you folks after this weekend.

There is something under consideration for Telge Park. We met with them a few months ago and now our proposal is moving forward for approval consideration. Please stay tuned. It's not completely approved yet, but there is good support for it from the Precinct. We hope to know something within the next few weeks or sooner hopefully. If it is approved, it will be a work in progress for a few months as it will need to be carved and created out of the heavily wooded terrain that makes up the majority of the park.

Others who have been in the loop on this are Chuck Haney and now Stephen DuBois who works for the Precinct. If (and hopefully when) this is all a go, we will post a timeline and more details. More to come soon!!

Please try and make this course very good! Quality should be the priority now as it pains me to direct people to the same 2-3 courses in town when there is well over 30.

Trees are awesome BTW and can help make a course better when the big distance isn't there and I think the best example of this in TX is the Cedar Hill courses in DFW. The coyote course isn't even 6000ft yet it challenges Ams and Pros alike.

Description of what "Quality" looks like please.

I'll provide the first criteria:
1) Fairways are not all straight with a hyser fade at the end.

Hate to say it but designers need to look at parks like moffit. Its a great example if how to layout a course. There is not one hole that parralels another. Its is a effeciant layout that allows every Tbox to be played at same time. To me small courses like TC are just boring and a waste of space. Anyway what do I know I don't belong to a fancy club or play beer league . Also imo concrete tboxes are a must have and they need to be large enough.

Moffitt is not without it's flaws.

E.g. #7's basket vs. #8 fairway. #7 long tee vs. #10's fairway. #11's fairway vs. #12 short tee. Hole #4 vs. #5's tee. While I don't believe any of those are fatal they all pose a danger of getting hit and require players to be on the lookout.
