If you want to see more disc golf photos and blog posts, just click on the disc golf category on the right side of the web page. I seem to write about disc golf a couple times a month. Can't imagine why!
Those turned out pretty cool. I think the faster shutter definitely looks cooler at the almost fast enough setting. The slight blur, bend of the disc is pretty cool. Maybe next time we can try it with a supersoft wizard instead of a brand new Pro Destroyer. We may could get even more bend and twisting of the disc.

It's raining on the Southwest side right now, but per Weather.com it should clear up by tee time.

http://www.weather.com/outlook/recreation/golf/hourbyhour/77459?from=hrly_graph_tab

For reference here is official the Southwest Handicap Mini Weather Policy:
  • The Director of the mini has final discretion on whether play will be canceled on account of unsafe weather.
  • In the event of weather canceling play after holes have been started $6 of the $7 entry fee will refunded.
  • The $1 ace pot fee will not be refunded. Any aces hit during the partial round will be paid in full.
  • No round scores will be recorded or otherwise paid out.
  • No series points will be earned, however those players present will be credited with an event attended for the purposes of the Series Finale Invitational.

Default Southwest Handicap Mini - 9/8 @ Erickson/Payne Results

Tiffany and Rick battled it out for second place this week while several players new to the Erickson/Payne course fell victim to the "first time at E/P not-so-great first round" jinx. However, one player that broke that curse was Adam shooting an impressive 52 and winning this week's handicap by over 3.5 strokes! Patrick took the Prime Discs CTP pack on hole #6.

Next week the Mini is at River Pointe Church DGC with a slightly earlier start time of 5:30 PM to beat the darkness.

Thanks to my sponsors:

Below are the current standings in the series points for the Finale Invitational.

Default Southwest Handicap Mini - 9/15 @ River Pointe Church - 5:30 PM start

Next up: Tuesday 9/15, tee time is 5:30 PM. Three weeks left to qualify for the Finale Invitational.

The Southwest Handicap Mini will be playing at River Pointe Church.

Entry fee $7; includes $1 Ace Pot, $1 to TX States fund, and $5 goes back to the weekly payout. Payout will be top
45% of finishers.

The series points being earned for playing since 6/30 will be used for a series Finale Invitational event with at least $250 cash payout!

The traveling ace pot payout is currently $149. This Mini is a fund raiser for next year's Texas States so please come out, play some disc golf, have some fun, and show your support.

For the SW Handicap Mini realistic handicaps are based on your PDGA rating and your recent performance on SW courses with specific emphasis on the course being played that week. Also, several other effects are factored into the handicap such as the level of course difficulty.

Thanks to my sponsors:

Regards,
ERic

Default Re: Southwest Handicap Mini - 9/15 @ River Pointe Church - 5:30 PM start

It was a beautiful day for disc golf at the Church tonight; the temperatures were cool (for Houston anyway) and the winds were calm. Adam's one stroke win-streak penalty cost him another first place victory this week as he battled me and my close to 1000-rated round. He can take consolation in the Prime Discs CTP pack he won on hole #16.

Next week we play at Tom Bass Regional Park - Powell. Please be on time for the 5:30 PM start so we can finish while we can see the baskets.

Thanks to my sponsors:

Below are the current point standings for the Series Finale Invitational.

Remember top 20 point earners get a Southwest Handicap Mini CFR disc.

Default Series Finale Invitational

Just a reminder on the qualifications to get invites to the Finale:

Time: ~5:30pm
Course: TBD

$250 added cash payout divided among at least the top eight finishers.
  • Top eight series point earning players are automatically entered for free.
  • Two other wildcard free entries will go to two players who played in the most weekly Minis but are not among the top eight point earners.
  • Anyone else who has played in at least eight weekly Southwest Handicap Minis can pay a $20 entry fee to play.

The Finale will be played with the handicap format just like the regular events. The course to be played at the Finale will be chosen at random from among the usual courses in the rotation.

As of the June 30th Mini, players have been earning points based on how they finish in the weekly Handicap Mini standings. Those points are going to be used to qualify for the Finale as well as to award a special SW Handicap Mini Series stamped CFR disc to the top 20 point earning players.

Invitational rain date is October 13.

Light turnout this week due to poor weather forecast, but it only drizzled for the first four holes. Props to Tiffany for another solid win and Neal took the Prime Discs CTP pack on #10.

Next week is the last week of the regular season before the Finale Invitational, we'll be playing everyone's favorite course: First Colony Aquatic Center.

Thanks to my sponsors:
