I was wondering what everyone thought about inviting one of the local news stations to one of our local tournaments to get Disc Golf Houston in the local spot light and try to grow the sport in the city. I run into so many people that have never heard of the sport, or they see the baskets and have no idea what they are for.
I was thinking about the McGregor tournament in October because its in the heart of the city, and the media loves doing local stories like this. It might even jump start the city putting in more courses. Just a thought. I got the idea because I was interviewed by the local paper at the Dunbar Tournament in Lake Jackson, and they really put Disc Golf in a good spotlight. Here is the article that was in the paper: http://www.thefacts.com/story.lasso?...e5f46124e06cb1

I see that no one has replied to this. I think it would be a great thing. I mean i never see anything about disc golf in the news or anything. I wouldn't even know where to start on trying to get a news channel to come out but i do like the idea.

This evening channel 13 actually put a couple of us at Mazola on the 10:00 pm news. Of course I was in the kitchen when my child exclaimed, "there you are dad. You are on the news." As I dashed in to the room, I saw another member of our group putting. Of course a story would be better. I believe it will be the squeaky wheel situation.

Eric was in the paper years ago during Texas States.. Brian Schwebby was here and other top pros that year. I know because we were doubles partners and the media just walked up in the middle of the round taking pictures... They even had the gall to tell me to get off the bench so they could get more photos of Eric.... Then they would stand in the fairway right in front of you.. but only take photos of Eric... Then gave him a ride back to tourney central while the rest of the card walked back.. WHAT A DIVA

Eric Dunn, don't see him anymore, of course he was at Jimbo's memorial.
He was whooping us good in his early years. I believe he played worlds one year and did quite well. |
