Well, I Played a round. Eight InStep baskets on about five acres. Average hole length about 200'. Some baskets share a tee. I shot 23. Many fairways cross and 8 & 9 play a blind corner against each other. Map coming soon.

Sounds a lot like the course at Cedar Brook Elementary...great place to host an Ace Race! If any of us went to their little tournament we would be bagging like crazy!!!

I made it home and here's more of my thoughts.

The design of this course is flat out dangerous. Holes #1, #2 & #3 all cross fairways. The tees for #1, #3 & #5 are way too close to the #2 basket. The basket for #5 & #9 (shared basket) is in the fairway of #4, about 30' from the tee. The fairways for #6 and #7 cross and play against each other. Both #8 and #9 drive around the corner of the building in opposite directions and you are not able to see either the basket or the tee of the other hole. In addition, #9 plays to the same basket as #5 and you can't see if anyone is playing that hole either.

Two of the baskets are right next to the building. #8 is really right up next to it.

The baskets are the InStep ones that you see for about $120 on ebay. I've got one in my yard and it's great for putting practice, but not for any serious play.

Average hole length is 225' feet with the entire course clocking in at 2050' in length. Accurate measures are not realistic as all the baskets can be moved manually.

I saw a fair amount of poison ivy and what may have been pot growing in the wooded area. I didn't think Baptists grew pot.

This course probably won't last long. The baskets are not stuck in the ground, they're just sitting there on their stands on top of the grass. It made me scratch my head and wonder what they were thinking.

I made a Google Map of the course. Start at the yellow marker in the upper right of the map near the parking lot.

This course is too dangerous for a tourney.

The good news; the lawn is really nice and the flowers around the parking lot are a nice touch.

That looks nuts. Maybe one of us can call the church and make some suggestions to who ever came up with this

Chris rather than beat the church up for trying, please stop by there and talk to whoever is in charge of the course at the church, thank them, and offer to help them design something much safer, with good flow that could attract their members to give the game a try, thus growing the sport and getting other churches interested in putting in courses.

Working with churches, there is much less red tape to getting a course installed, they usually have the funding and Lord knows they have some really pretty property out there.
