As a big volunteer one would think that he wouldn't be so HARSH on all the efforts of our club and those within our local community that made the whole thing happen. He should understand that no one is making money at this sport we all love, and take a chill pill and clear out another tee box. j/k
Lack of gratitude and appreciation is just....................... |

Thanks for posting this. Hopefully this will ease some of the negative attention he is drawing to himself. I'm glad to hear he is such a great guy and doing so much for this sport. However after reading some of his post and one in particular that served no purpose and was an outright right lie I've come to a conclusion. Despite all the good he is still a jackass. |

I can't believe how much negative crap I'm reading regarding this tournament. The payout is one of the best I've seen, the courses looked great (for what they are), and the name is still a name!
Y'all do a fantastic job running this event. I've only been there for the last two, but I'm looking forward to next year already. Just, wish I could have hung around longer on Sunday to visit with everyone before I left to tell you all of this in person. |

Here's my two cents worth. I like having the pros in Texas States, as they give some added prestige and interest to the tournament. However, I don't think States needs to bend over backwards and hold spots for them so they can make up their minds at the last minute. If they're really pros, they should be able to plan their tournament appearances in advance.
![]() I think it would be a mistake to cut Recreational--that sounds like elitism to me. Disc golf was not founded on elitism. The implication is that Recreational players don't take the game seriously, but they do. Players aren't born with 400' arms--they develop them over a number of years--except for me--I started the sport too late. Recreational allows players to develop and "move up". I plan on playing Intermediate next year, so I'm not just saying this for my own benefit. ![]() I like States just the way it is. In my model train club, we sometimes refer to the "back row hecklers". It's easy to heckle. I think States was handled beautifully, and I have absolutely no complaints. I hope the same barbecue and hamburger people are back next year--the food was great. Lance: thanks for the recommendation on the Nuke. I got one and immediately put it to use. It's now my go-to wind disc, and I've retired my TeeRex to the backup stack. Good job Birdshot!

this was my first texas States and i thought it was great. The entire thing was great.
I wouldn't mind seeing more pros next year. I mean i am AM2 but it is nice being in an event with a ton of Pros that get recognized around the country. If you made the other divisions smaller that is fine. i will be signed up for this plenty early next year like i was this year. I think that houston has plenty of C-tier tournaments every year that are great for everyone to play but it is cool to have one giant tourny where we get a ton of Pros. Either way it was a great tournament and i plan on playing this thing every year. |

He was referencing Neal's commentary over the PA system while doing the putting contest. Obviously Keith doesn't watch soccer very much, as Neal's loud descriptions reminded me of the Mexican sportscasters announcing the scoring of a goal!
Making statements like that is anything but professional. Once again, open mouth..........really really big, and insert foot. Somehow, we should have just known to expect some warm statement like that from KV.

I'm sure if he had finished in the top 5 he would have had a completely different take on the tourney.... Some people no matter how good of a person they are on the inside, were just never taught how to lose gracefully... After reading KV's post (and he didn't stop at the TxSDGC thread, he carried it over into the Fl. NT thread too) and then fuzzy's recount of what an asset this guy is for DG, I have a hard time understanding the down right mean spirited things he's been saying on the pdga board. My conclusion is he's a very poor loser, or bipolar....idk
