Not yet Sue. We are looking at starting up the Saturday morning minis in a few weeks, trying to get some concensus ahead of time as to what works for people on a Saturday morning, what formats they would like to see, ect...
Not attempting to cut into Birdshots tourney's or anything, I like playing Birdshot events too, but most weeks an all day Saturday tourney doesn't work for me or my family. Also the regular attendees at our minis aren't guys and gals I see at Birdshot tourney's either. My personal opinion is I'd like to hold minis based strictly on the players ratings, not age or gender protected divisions, just to get us all playing together in bigger divisions, closer competition and bigger payouts. |

I will be on the lookout for more information. I know I don't have any problem with ratings based competition, so one big happy family works for this Female Grand Master. LOL

Last tourney I signed up for went like this......
TD - What division? Me - Male... Masters.... Gemini... born on a Tuesday....balding....carrying less than 13 disc division please. (without batting an eye) TD - UHHHMM....you might have to bump up into the Taurus division... The Gemini, masters, balding, born on a tuesday division currently only has one other player... Me - Yes but, I wanted to sign up in the Gemini, masters, balding, born on a Tuesday AND only carrying less than 13 disc division.... TD - Oh.... ok your good then, there are 2 others playing in that one.... League type divisions make much more sense to me now.... |

A few years back Jerry Cloud was the Rec. Texas State Champ. Not a PDGA member he signed up in Rec. The man was at the least an Advanced Master with a 930 rating, be careful. If you don't have a rating what do you go by?Go Jerry Texas State Rec. Champion, SLUG

I keep a spreadsheet on unrated players comparing them to rated players with similar scores. 99% of players are good about knowing which division to play in. I always say in your first competition event, play Novice and move up from there. Was that Jerry's first competition event?

Not by a long shot, I think he won by over 20 strokes.
![]() He had been playing tourneys for years.

I think I remember this tourney, as I was in that division. Kept asking myself who the hell is this Bagger?

I understand what your saying Lou...but really I mean people can and will sign up in whatever division they want no matter what you call it...ie Rec...white....novice...red....advanced....purple. ..whatever, the thought was lets get people playing together, limmiting the divisions and just get all the intermediates together instead of having 3 or 4 different divisions an intermediate player could get real selective about competing in..
Know what I'm saying? An intermediate player is an intermadiate player, doesn't matter if your under 20, over 40, 50 male, female... your intermediate...play intermediate |

OOPS! Just read down that this was Texas States Tourney that he won Rec in. The tourney that I played in wasn't States, but I do believe it was out at Bass and the winner was Jerry Cloud. I kept mistaken him with Bass Master!
