Take the long drive out to Clute/Lake Jackson on Saturday July 10th & let's see how many collective birdies we can muster up in one of Texas' smallest towns (Clute) with it's own disc golf course (at Clute Park)...which also happens to be one of the smallest courses I've ever played (except for that elementary school on Hammerly!). GREAT course for a beginner, so if you've been thinking about playing tourneys & you weren't sure, this would be a good one for the old ego boost! I'm sure that since we'll be out there already we'll have lunch somewhere close & head a couple of miles down the road to Dunbar Park in Lake Jackson...see www.houstonbirdshot.com for details & early registration, although online registration for minis really aren't necessary.

Yep my church will be out there that day doing a BBQ Cookoff around 11. So that'll be fun.

Just a bump & a reminder that we're still heading out to Clute on Saturday to see how many birdies we can rack up....after lunch we'll head down the road to Dunbar Park in Lake Jackson...come on out & join us!

Billy, is this a one round mini? I checked the BS website and it isn't clear to me.

All of our minis are always just one round....but then we usually have lunch & go play a casual round at the nearest course, which in this case is obviously Dunbar. Since this one is kinda far away from H-Town, it would be nice if you guys & gals had all day for some disc golf...make it more worth the drive!

Directions from PDGA & DGCR.....from Houston, 50 miles south on 288....left on Plantation...left on Dixie Dr....right on Brazoswood Dr....past high school, behind church with big steeple. That's verbatim from the site....I know we've gotten there off of FM 2004 as well, since we are coming from down south that's the way we usually head out there.

For 9-hole courses it's always two rounds of nine holes to make one set of 18 holes. Memorial Church (6 holes) was three rounds to add up to 18 holes... unless you tied Derek and then you played off for another six holes before you missed a short little 20' putt on the 24th hole. |

Right you are, ERic...I should have been more specific. To me, a round IS 18 holes....whether it's nine holes twice or whatever. When we do the mini at Nottingham it ends up being 24 holes (since there are 12 holes with alts). When I say one round for all the minis, that basically means a morning round only...as opposed to one in the morning & another in the afternoon.

This mini may actually be a 20 hole mini. Billy and I have been cooking up an idea to have a 'hanging' 10th hole out at the park. Ben Madaray is scouting out some locations and depending on the feasibility tomorrow there may be a tenth hole on the course tomorrow.
I've received a fair number of calls today about the mini tomorrow so I think interest is picking up. After all this rain folks want to get out and throw. Remember that after the mini (and lunch) we'll be heading over to Dunbar for a round of doubles. Bring your waterproof shoes and bug spray folks. The mosquitoes have been flying off with our bags this week. |
