How to thank City Council for Asphalt Tee-boxes

I was there to tell them where to put the frames. They moved some of the frames later though. They also switched out the size of the frames for the blue boxes from 6' x 6' to 3' x 6'. (Not sure why) Nobody plays from those blues except me anyway. (I'm trying to get my first ace dern it)

Eric, I have no pics (I'll grab some next time). But to explain, they put out several wooden frames and filled them with crushed asphalt. I say several because there are not 21 nor 18, I forget which holes have frames. But basically they still sit that way today. I don't know if it is time or people playing on top of them, but the couple of nails that hold together the frames are starting to come out. It is only a matter of time before they completely fall apart and asphalt spills all over.

I seem to remember this phase being completed pretty quickly, like 2 weeks or so, but now they haven't been touched in nearly 6 weeks.

My liberal friends wonder why I am so vehemently anti-tax and for government reduction, this case serves as a perfect example.

Its true, things are taking more time than expected, the forms were put up fast and nothing has been done since.

I think our efforts regarding government waste are more effective when directed at the actual problems, like the thousands wasted on skate parks and soccer, not when they are spending a few bucks on disc golf.

Does the Parks Dept consider this project complete? And I thought is was supposed to be hot asphalt not the boulders they call crushed crap.

That doesn't seem like a very positive attitude Sue.... Just wear your hiking boots and ankle braces when Tee-ing off....

oh and would you mind sending a thank you letter from the emergency room......great..

Derek, we agree on many things, but the statement about skateparks and soccer being wasted money I certainly don't agree with. I'd be willing to bet you dinner that the skate park at Mazola gets 10x's more use than the DG course does and it only takes up a mere smidgen of the amount of real estate. Soccer leagues are so full they can't find fields to play on and believe it or not, they Actually generate revenue.

Maybe skating and soccer aren't your things, but that desn't mean they are a waste of money.. I think that skate park ROCKS.... I'm just mad they didn't have one that nice when I was 15 yrs old

The skatepark generates approx. $0 revenue.

The skatepark employes up to 6 city workers at any given time, plus a security gaurd, all on the tax payer dime. Add up their salaries, the maintence and repairs, electricity to keep those lights on 24/7 365 days a year. The thing is not even crowded any more like it was the first month or so, some days you have more city employees sitting around in there than people skating.

The skatepark could have been put anywhere in the area, theres plenty of open spaces, but they just had to plop it right in the middle of our course. Total disregard for a memorialized facility and basically disc golf can just go jump off a bridge as far as they are concerned.

Scott I know you are just trying to play devils advocate but i think soccer and skateboarding have plenty of people defending them already.
