Default Birdshot Mini/Bring Ya Floatah To Mozola/August 14, 2010

Bring your floaters to donate to Buffalo Bayou on Saturday August 14th for another in our series of minis for 2010...a couple of years ago we had a sanctioned event here with extra baskets that lasted all day, was hot, was a pain to organize & had people bitching at us up one side & down the other (except for Tiffany Brogdon, who aced one of the temps for her first tournament ace & around $276.00). Last year we decided to do a mini instead (it was a doubles mini) to avoid the logistical nightmare of the year before. This year, it'll be a mini again but not doubles...and there's a good chance we'll have three extra holes over on the back side over the bridge where we had six holes crowded in two years ago. Anyway...mark this one on your calendar & we'll try once again to make it fun this time! See www.houstonbirdshot.com for details.....

One water cooler and one DP cooler on the course this year. If you come to the mini you will probably get to check out the Tinsley expansion holes.

For those of you (like Griff) who are not going out of town to Cedar Hills or The Vibram Open (that would be nice!) this weekend...please plan on coming downtown to join us for 12 regulars & 12 alts this Saturday morning at Mozolla....holes one & nine will have temps for this one (they're doing work or something around the regular holes) and then we will have three temps set up across the bridge back in the back (after hole four) for the extra three holes. I'm not sure if we're planning an afternoon casual round anywhere else or not...we'll play that one by ear. See www.houstonbirdshot.com for more details!

For those of you interested in seeing what the Tinsley Temp 12 will look like for the Buffalo Bayou Downtown Classic on Oct. 24th, we will have the tee boxes flagged and a flag for where the basket will eventually go. We play in the basket if your disc lands within 3 feet of flag. This will be available in the afternoon. 2 of the holes are definetly signature holes (10): long downhill drive over water - 432' and (20): The Green Monster - a huge tree and brush structure that you can dare to try and go over or go around to the right - 180'. The whole structure is OB. If your disc goes in there, kiss it goodbye. And another one is pretty close (16): A 353' drive slightly downhill curving to the left at the end with downtown in the background. Its debatable.

We had 21 brave souls come out into the sweltering downtown heat Saturday morning to partake in a little disc golf....much, much thanks to David Decker for hauling AND putting out & picking up the five temp baskets that were used! It was long, brutal 24 holes...by the time we finished there was no way anyone was going to go across the bayou & play a round of object golf where the temps will be for the Buffalo Bayou Downtown Classic this fall. Maybe we can organize that just for grins before the actual event happens. If so, we'll let you know! Thanks again for coming out...especially if you had to fight the traffic jam from the two 18 wheelers blowing up on I-45!
