Default Playing Mozola

I plan on hitting this course for the first time this Sunday. What holes should I throw the "throw away" discs on?

batman, bring your best stuff and you wont lose anything because youll play better. if you start throwing that dx plastic around its just going to flip over and go right into the water. this guy i played with the other day had the same attitude as you and he had a ROUGH game. i dont really see why this had to be a new thread, but oh well

I have to agree with Leafy on this one.

Throwing a "throw away" is like planning to fail. Where's the sense in that? Throwing a disc you don't mind losing just increases the odds of losing it in my opinion.

That being said I still wouldn't throw my favorite disc on a risky hole.

It seems to me that one of the last thing disc golfers learn is what the phrase "playing it safe" means.

heck I've lost discs on courses with no water (Moffit, Terramont) ect.

The best advice I've gotten is - Get to know your discs real well... and then trust them..

They rarely let you down...and when they do, just say "I needed to replace that one anyway"

This is a frequent topic of discussion amongst my dg crew.

Personally, I use throw-away discs at Moz....just too much of a bummer to lose my fav discs there (and ive lost PLenty)

I would say 2, 5, 8 generally. But ive lost a disc on just about every hole there except 1 and 3. The key is just to understand your discs, and the elements.

of note: Check the weather day of play - if the wind is from the south, your discs will flip over (RHBH) and head into the bayou on the holes coming back home. If the wind is from the north it keeps the discs fairly nice and stable since its from behind you. -

I take any dx disc you think is not any good, I prefer some dx molds to what ever the new and best of the moment is.

ok ill give it to cfles and hes gonna bring it to you, meet on hole 17 at BB he says

but seriously, dx mold beast is the same mold as star or champ beast i believe, im not talking about the mold just about the type of plastic

im saying to batman that if you want to play a throw away game, then bring throw away discs and you can be a throw away player and just go ahead and throw yourself in the bayou with your disc.

a dx type disc is stable for a couple of throws at most, if you want to make that argument, but in any wind out there at mozola its completely unpredictable and you should throw quality discs that are predictable and controllable, not even your 'favorite' discs, but not crap either.

theres no reason to lose anything out there, except for the rare occasion of bad luck

Can't be much different than someone throwing a floating disc over water...

the dx beast is better than the champion.
the dx tee-bird is better than a champion.
a dx eagle is nice, and a dx firebird will work well too.
There are ways to manipulate your release angle and using proper technique to provide better accuracy of where the disc lands not just how far it may go.

I guess it is good to have started golf before the new high end plolymers made there way to the disc. I used to stop by academy and pick some up dx on my way to that course off of Fry road.

I played my first round of disc golf ever on this course the other day. Was that insane to do? lol Let's see, I went into water on 3 (recovered), got stuck high in the tree on 5 (the wind blew in down eventually) and opted to skip hole 9. Does this sound about average for a first round of disc golf?? For those who have played since the redesign, how do you like it?
