Tourney Trophy End of 2010 Bring Your Partner Doubles

Does anyone have any info on this event yet? One of the other guys I work with is interested as well.

Now that my kids are done with Sat. sports, I get to play some weekend disc golf again. Looking forward to playing with you all again!

Birdshot is trying to work around some scheduling conflicts with Doubles and other sanctioned events in the area and should have an announcement about the event in the next few days.

Will there be a BS point standing before SV dubs? Who got what place and what not.

Is this a PDGA event? HFDS ratings won't be considered?

Strategy-wise and fun-wise I find "Tough Shot" much better than "Worse Shot". Please consider.

Ace Pot?

If so, what are the nitpicky rules regarding: only one partner buying into the ace pot, and also only one partner hitting an Ace in Worst/Tough shot?

Rationale dug up from an old e-mail:

Doubles is typically a little bit more about fun, still a competition, but fun... especially at this season ending awards tourney.

While both Worst and Tough formats involve skill and strategy, Worst Shot has a bunch of forced lay-ups. I think most players agree that forcing a lay-up from 20' out (after your partner missed the first putt) just isn't much fun, they'd much rather take a run at the basket.

I also think that the Worst Shot format compresses the scoring and doesn't allow for a more accurate spread. E.g. consider an open 300' hole. For most teams that's an automatic '3'. The only way you get a '2' on that hole is if both players park their drives within 20'. Most teams will have their worst drive probably 40-70' out. At that range both players are not going to make a putt so both players are "forced" to lay up. Then you have another boring 10-15' putt. What you end up with is two of the three shots on that hole aren't any fun AND many/most teams are all carding 3's regardless of their skills.

If you played that same 300' hole as Tough Shot and teams are taking their second shot from 40-70' out you have the ability to run at the basket and actually card some 2's. You also add the strategic decision making process of deciding whether or not to make that run at the basket, whereas before there was no thought it's just "automatically lay up".

Anyway, something to consider.
