HFDS has adopted T. C. Jester Park under the Houston Parks and Recreation's Adopt-A-Park Program. We shall routinely schedule and coordinate trash removal activities. At this time, Dennis W. will be the one primarily organizing these events on behalf of HFDS.
While HFDS has previously routinely removed trash from the disc golf course area of the park, this will broaden the scope of the trash removal activities to the entire Jester Park. |

On January 8th and January 15th HFDS will volunteer to pick up litter at TC Jester park. I have taken charge of this effort at the request of our esteemed president, Richard F.
So, please save the dates of January 8th and/or 15th to participate in this effort to beautify our city. HFDS should contribute to this effort because the city and members of the community will look favorably on our organization and sport if they see efforts such as this one. There will be CTPs and/or doubles/minis for prizes after the litter clean up efforts. Please plan on showing up at 9:00 to pick up trash until 10:00 or 10:30. While you certainly are welcome to play anytime, the prizes will be reserved for those that participated in the clean up. Dennis |

I need to send an announcement to the newspapers regarding the Jester Adopt a Park workday and clean-up. Birdshot has announced the Heart of Houston Open for January 15th which was the rain date for the Adopt a park Workday.
I would like to know the date before the next club meeting so that I can get the announcement in the newspapers. Richard and I were thinking of selecting the 22nd, but we were concerned about the date of the Ice Bowl and whether that Saturday might be the date people want to select for the Ice Bowl. Would those of you that are instumental in making the Ice Bowl happen please select a date ASAP. Many thanks, Dennis Woodward |

I submitted the following to The Leader and the Ultimate section of the Houston Chronicle:
Dennis Woodward reports that the Houston Flying Disc Society is participating in Houston Parks and Recreation Department's Adopt-A-Spot program. The HFDS has adopted TC Jester park. HFDS invites members of the community to participate in the clean up at TC Jester park on January 8th (rain date Jan.29th). Members of HFDS and the community will meet in the parking lot along East TC Jester near the pool at 10:00 a.m. The group will spend 1-1 1/2 hours removing litter from the train tracks to 43rd Street. Following the clean up there will be a disc throwing contest called a CTP (closest to the pin) for prizes. Participants will try to throw their disc or a borrowed one into the basket. There will also be a mini tournament; format to be decided the day of. It would be wonderful if members of the community could contact Dennis Woodward to volunteer to place one of the trash bags in their home trash can to remove the burden of disposal. Please contact Dennis (713-290-8961), rucrazy001@hotmail.com, or on facebook if you live along TC Jester and are willing to dispose of a bag of trash from the park. |

I should be able to attend Dennis and I can take one of the trash bags back to my home's bin.
I should be able to supply a handful of large trash bags suitable for this effort. I'm very excited about us doing this...it should be the cleanest that this park has looked in a long time! Larry

This is a reminder to refresh your memory about the work HFDS is doing tomorrow at TC Jester. Thank you for your consideration.

Thank you to the fourteen volunteers at the adopt a park today who gathered sixteen bags of trash and recyclables. Special thanks to the sponsors Merrell, Keep Houston Beautiful, Houston Parks and Recreation Department and Dennis Woodward. Thanks to the HFDS Hospitality Committee for the snacks and refreshments.
