Hey guys I know I don't post often, and I'm sorry to just post because I want something but...
I'm making my work schedule for the Spring and it'd be awesome if I could get the preliminary dates for the 2011 C-Tier schedule. If I find out early enough, I'll be able to plan around the tournaments and make more than I did last year. Do yall have an idea what weekends we'll be doing tournaments next January-May? Looking forward to it already. Thanks guys! |

Hey... short answer... we should know shortly after the Brooks finale. Long answer is that we have a lot of stuff to consider for the next year. We have tried to keep our costs down since we are all volunteers but at the same time not pass too much costs on to the players. The problems that arose this year stems from the perception that we are making money running these tournaments. (this is not from the players as much as the parks departments, neighborhoods, churches, and individuals that own the courses) So we have to consider which courses that either still let us play for free, or ones that players wish to play even if it means that they have to pay a little extra in fees that don't go into the payout.
So that being said, anyone please feel free to voice your likes/dislikes on which courses you liked, didn't like, would be willing to pay a little extra for, and those you wouldn't. I will make sure that all opinions posted here, or pm'ed to me before our meeting will be taken into consideration. Thanks to all who supported us over the past 3 years, hopefully 2011 will be a huge year for Houston Tournament Disc Golf, with the addition of 2 tournies above a-tier status. Now go sign up for the finale so I don't have to update signups of 100 people the night before the tourney from the hotel wifi....

We did one double weekend this year (Kingwood/Dunbar) but they were two seperate events & not too many people showed up at Dunbar on Sunday. If we did any two day events, I would say we should make it a B-tier...whether we did them at two seperate courses or not would depend on a lot of things.

you read my mind. three rounds and a final nine? spring valley/mcdade? just an idea. two day events might draw more out of towners.

With TxSDGC not at Bass this year seems like a Birdshot event there would be in order. Windwood is a solid course that seems to support DG. I thought the Dunbar course played pretty well for a tournament this past year. Shawshank is a great course and keeps getting better. Spring Valley is a good course but any tourney that requires the significant surcharge payment for shutting down ball golf for the day is not worth it. If that surcharge money comes from players or sponsors it'd be better allocated back to the players at a different venue.
