After a weekend of disc golf in Tyler and plenty of discussion on the ride back with Jim Kelly and TJ Straub, I think we all agreed that Birdshot has already and will continue to put on better and more organized tournaments than Title Disc. We were very disappointed in the low quality of the tournament for an A tier event.

-Cards were late for every round. Tee times were never on schedule. Cards of 5 often finished in the dark
-Intermediate, whose tourney was a B tier, got a weak player's pack with no disc.
-All of the payout for Ams was pre-picked Old School and passed out in Wal-Mart bags
-There were no games, raffles, etc.
-The USDGC qualifier spots available were based upon handicapped player ratings...
-Lunch was expensive and had very small portions, unlike the BBQ at Shawshank that was tasty, filling, and plentiful enough for seconds

The point of this rant is to say thanks as well as provide an idea of what players are looking for in an A tier event. The B tier hosted recently at Shawshank was on a completely different level than this event as far as the level of fun and player satisfaction goes. With States around the corner, we have the potential to make this a great event and change this preconceived notion of "bad golf" in Houston.

Last weekend San Antonio hosted an A tier and Crowley hosted a B tier on coinciding dates. The combined Open field for both events was 56 players in one weekend . The players are out there and the numbers are large, thus proving that we need some kind of draw to bring them a little further south.

Historically, PWO has been a good event. Sorry to hear you guys got held up. Will be interesting to see how Titledisc handles their A-tier next spring.

Birdshot's partnership with DGC is what really makes our events click, I think....because of Andi & Don's large inventory & years of experience ordering CFR's & their relationships with the disc manufacturers, we have had quality payout & players packs for our players! When we first started three years ago & it was mostly just me & Chuck doing everything, things were a little slow in the beginning....now we've got half a dozen staff members that usually can make every event & it's helped us speed things up & become a fairly well-oiled machine. Some people have thought that we run too many events, but we have always catered mostly to AMs anyway with our C-tiers...and apparently lots of practice has helped us to run things smoothly.
