Only if the basket you're modifying is already approved in both single and multi-chain configurations.

OK, I got off the phone with DGA and the inner chain assembly is $35 each. There is the additional cost of Shipping which is pricey since the item is heavy of close to $100 shipping. If we purchase the chains from them the baskets will be in compliance for all PDGA sanctioned events.

This gives us some additional info and will help us as we move forward with improvements.

Thanks for getting me motivated to get this info.

Peace

Tell them it's for a church and it WOULD have came over on Noah's Arc for free if the course was in sooner. See if they can lower the shipping.

LOL, We would only have a single set of chains. not 21. LOL two by two.

I asked for a non-profit discount, wholesale discount, and NOTHING on that item.

Still $35 plus shipping is a do able price for the future.

Doug

I know there are PDGA approved baskets all over the place with inner chains...one would almost think that single chains would NOT be approved, but they are! I would assume that if you got the specs from PDGA on what kind of chains are kosher, they would not have a problem with you adding inner chains....fifty bucks per basket sounds about right though. Birdshot replaced chains on a basket a couple of years ago (I forget where) and that's about what it cost if I remember correctly.

Billy, it's not the inner chains that are the issue per se... it's the modification of a PDGA approved design.

Just like you can't legally modify a PDGA approved disc (even if you think it makes it "better") and use it for sanctioned play, you can't legally modify a PDGA approved target (even if you think it makes it "better") and use it for play in certain sanctioned events.

Give me an example Eric. Many baskets have been doubled chained, and there are a couple of ways of doing it. Brooks has double chains on the original course that might not be legal, better check.

Tom Bass has been doubled chained. Might not have been legal for Worlds, Oh No. Done and over with no questions asked, and none ever raised.

There are times when the rules go out the window, I told you so a long time ago.

Rules Smules on certain occasions, Reality.

If a basket has double chains, I bet no one will ask if it is legal. Unless it is one of Dambra's- Monster Chained Crab Traps. LMAO

Loop and roll is easy to do on all baskets if you know how.

All we do must be illegal per P.D.G.A., Ever foot fault? We are the demon children.

The good thing is that $35 a basket is a pretty darn good price. We will add it to our list of improvements and you will see them added sooner than later.

Perhaps if someone that wins regularly wants to make a donation we can specifically focus that funding on some additional chains. did I just say that? LOL You know I love you buddy. Keep throwing BIG!

Read the aforementioned thread (http://www.pdga.com/discussion/showthread.php?t=30504). The latest PDGA Tour Standards doc (http://www.pdga.com/documents/pdga-tour-standards) details which target levels are required for which sanctioned event tiers. The PDGA has made clear a desire to start enforcing the requirements someday.

There's the information.

The people making the decision can do what they want with it, their choice. But at least they've been informed of the implications.

Interesting thing: The way I read http://www.pdga.com/files/documents/...ards_61510.pdf
Windwood's current baskets meet the PDGA requirements for "Championship" level competition (the highest level). Unless I am reading it wrong. Interesting.
