Patrick and I were pretty sure he gave us permission but it was hard to tell over the noise of his shotgun.

I think everyone should bring a junk disc, be allowed to throw it in his yard without penalty and then go get it. Put an end to the myth in one day.

Myth or not, it's the guy's private property. Respect his wishes and "no trespassing" signs.

Back in 2006, Rick Bannister held a tournament out there and approach him and explained WHY we go after our discs. Apparently Rick was able to understand that the guy didn't like players going commando on his fence. He explained to Rick that if players would just go to the end around the fence, he was ok with that. Rick explained that at the players meeting and there were NO issues. If Chris and Patrick did indeed approach him and explain the situation, and he threatened them with a firearm, that's a legal issue. I don't think the name of the tournament displays good will toward the land owner in question. So, if you have an event out there, knock on his door, explain the situation and tell players at the players meeting to respect the mans property, I don't see why there would be a problem. If he's notified that players may want to retrieve their property (discs) from his property (yard) and he displays intent to harm anyone, I'm sure Conroe Police would back us up. Just sayin!

Just FYI, the property directly along hole 8 and even hole 2 does not belong to the homeowner. There is a 200ft buffer zone on either side of his property which is part of a court ruling that happened shortly after the course went in. Conroe Parks maintains these areas; the area near hole 8 is marked with an actual fence, and the area next to hole 2 is just marked with wooden posts.

don't throw bad drives on two holes. problem solved
![]() the line on #8 is a big turnover away from the fence and there's really no reason to go in on #2 anyways unless you throw 90 degrees right of the hole

You know, the name of this thing started out as just a little joke...none of us at Birdshot had any idea this would be taken as seriously as it apparently has been taken. And we certainly had no intention of inciting anyone to throw discs in on purpose to "test the theory"! ERic's right....respect the no trespassing signs. Christian...I didn't know the history of Rick Bannister & the property owner, so sorry....but again, we just thought it was a funny name for the tournament. Calm down, everyone...concentrate instead on hitting that $500 ace on Hole 12....jeeeepers!
